OTTAWA — Anaida Poilievre is stepping back into the publishing world with a seasonal digital magazine she says will spotlight women who blend ambition with authenticity.
The wife of Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre launched Pretty & Smart Co. on Monday, releasing its inaugural fall issue and promising new editions every September, December, March, and June.
The first cover story, A Tale of Two Amandas, pairs Conservative commentator Amanda Galbraith with Liberal counterpart Amanda Alvaro in what Anaida Poilievre describes as proof that “strong, empowered women transcend party lines.” The feature comes with a full interview and photoshoot, conducted last month.
“I hesitated after recent events, but at a time when disagreements too often turn hostile, it matters to show we can rise above them and see how much we have in common despite our different views,” Anaida Poilievre wrote in a social media post announcing the launch.
Pretty & Smart Co. bills itself as a platform where “ambition honours femininity.” Originally launched as a blog in 2015, it evolved into a magazine in 2019 before relaunching this year under Anaida Poilievre’s new editorial direction. Its content ranges from business insights and “mindful success strategies” to long-form conversations with women who, in her words, “refuse to choose between success and authenticity.”
Each quarterly issue will sell for $5.99, alongside weekly online features published every Sunday.
Anaida Poilievre, a communications professional and entrepreneur, has built the brand around her own experience balancing career, motherhood, and political life. She is also the co-founder of LeadHerForward, a women’s initiative created with Vanessa Mulroney, and author of an upcoming book, Strong Pillars: Building an Unshakable Foundation.
In the magazine’s “About” section, Anaida Poilievre traces the origin of its name to a promise she once made to her youngest sister: that she would always follow the word “pretty” with “and smart.” It’s a phrase she says stuck — a shorthand for encouraging confidence, curiosity, and substance alongside outward style.
With its relaunch, Pretty & Smart Co. is positioning itself less as a lifestyle glossy and more as a forum for what Anaida Poilievre calls “thoughtful discourse” about modern womanhood. Whether that blend of politics, ambition, and femininity can carve out space in an already crowded digital media landscape is the next test.
